Description

Our cellars are at the gates of the village, two ample spaces carved into the volcanic rock, which date from the 16th century.
Our winemaking techniques are very simple.

Though we use up-to-date technology and control the fermentation temperatures, the transformation of the grapes into wine is carried out with the maximum respect for the fruit, given that the major part of the success of the product comes from the ripeness and healthiness of the grapes which we bring to the cellars.

We do not use selected yeasts or other chemical products, the fermentation begins spontaneously, and our wines are not filtered.

We are on the lava-rich slopes of the volcano, once hot rock but now cooled, which the mountain erupted and spewed towards the plains below.

You begin to see the villages softly nestled on these slopes and the castles which Holy Roman Emperor Federick II erected to dominate the scene.

It almost seems that a coat of velvet arabesques cover the entire space of these slopes, an enormous expanse of ancient olive groves and thickly-planted vineyards which create a sweet and assuring contrast of colors.

Accommodation

In the muted restaurant, built from the ancient cellars, it is a real pleasure simply to allow yourself to be enchanted by the delicacies offered up by the Lucan territory, interpreted smoothly by the chef. The ripe shape and colour accompaniments enhance the light, enjoyable dishes, with an intense Mediterranean aroma. A re-discovery of tastes that have never dulled, with a careful eye on the future and creativity. We have eleven beautiful rooms, just as spacious as the noble country houses tradition has it, and equipped with all modern comforts. These allow you to recover from the efforts of the day, and to set off in the discovery of the treasures of the Basilicata, amongst vines and castles at the foot of the now quietened volcano.

We are what we have been.
What we have loved, what we have smelled and perceived, what we have eaten and drunk.
And I, in my case, have loved, smelled, perceived, eaten and - above all in my case - drunk is Mount Vulture.

The territory where I was born, the territory of my family and friends, the territory of the fragrance and tastes which I know, my first loves and affections, my first fears and anxieties: in a word, my origins.

Home is where, sooner or later, we return to. All we need is that the ties remain strong, unable to be cut: for me they are represented by wine.
