The Marotti Campi Estate is situated near Morro d'Alba, an ancient village North of Jesi which is developed around it's castle walls with turret masts connected by a covered walkway called "La Scarpa", rising above the hills facing the sea in the province of Ancona.
Gentle hills and fertile land have always been dedicated to viticulture, in the centre of the DOC zone of the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico.
Here, for over a century, the Marotti Campi family have owned land, which over the years has been transformed into a wine-growing business with around 52 hectares of vines.
In 1999 our passion for the vineyard drove us to build a modern winery to enhance with our wines the heritage of our land and culture.
With this commitment we have started a road of continued investment aimed at quality during the whole process which we entirely control from the vineyard to the bottle, since we make wine exclusively from our grapes.
The Villa, a gracious residence of sober character, harmoniously fits into the landscape, was built in the XIX Century on the hill of S.Amico where already stood a Roman and Medieval settlement.
Our great love for this land and passion for this activity brought us to make here a pleasant area where you can taste and appreciate our wines. In 2006 we have also opened the Country House "Vigna Sant'Amico", a restored casa colonica overlooking our vines, with ten welcoming apartments and swimming pool where to spend an holiday in the countryside.
Our Estate consists in 120 hectares with 52 hectares of vineyards. We mainly grow indigenous varietals, 22 hectares of Lacrima and 22 hectares of Verdicchio cultivated exclusively in the territory of Morro d'Alba and nearby villages. These vines are of various ages from 8 to 30 years old. Then we have 8 hectares of "international" varietals 6 years old with mainly Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvigon and Montepulciano which we use in blend for our Marche IGT Rosso "Donderè".
The vineyards have various exposures: South; South-East, North-East, to receive the air coming from the sea at 12 km from us, so that we have the typical Mediterranian climate conditions.
The soil is mixed and the training system is mainly cordon spur.
Every year we make a careful selection of the grapes and we hand harvest in more than one passage to obtain the best maturation from every fruit.
For the white grapes we often use dry ice after they have been harvested to insulate them from the oxygen and to preserve all their perfumes.
